Those of you close to the Albany, N.Y., area might want to consider a morning of basketball and pancakes designed to discuss the NCAA tournament field the morning after "Selection Sunday."
The first-of-its-kind event in the Capital Region area of New York (at least this humble blogger can't ever remember another one) is being called "Bracket Breakfast," will feature two former MAAC players and will be held on Monday, March 16th at the Recovery Room Sports Bar & Grill on 62 New Scotland Avenue in Albany, across the street from the Albany Medical Center.
Featured speakers at the event will be former Siena standout Scott Knapp, and former University at Albany standout Lucious Jordan, who began his college playing career with a season of play at Loyola.
Knapp and Jordan each were key members of teams that participated in the NCAA tournament, and will speak about their tournament experiences. The two former players will also guide those in attendance through this year's event, providing an analysis of the field, the brackets and individual games.
The event is sponsored by The Sports Foundation of the Capital Region, which sponsors numerous local amateur sporting events throughout the region, including a High School Scholar Athlete Awards Dinner.
The Bracket Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am. In addition to the panel discussion, the Bracket Breakfast will feature an all-you-can eat buffet. Knapp finished his Siena career as the school’s all-time leading 3-point and free throw shooter and was tied for second in career wins. As a sophomore, Knapp and the Saints played in the 1999 NCAA tournament, losing in the first round to Arkansas.
Jordan was part of the UAlbany team that played UConn in the first round of the 2006 NCAA tournament. The game is one of the more memorable in that year's NCAA tournament as the Great Danes, a #16 seed, held a late second half lead and was within minutes of upsetting the #1 seeded Huskies. Jordan, a team captain on the 2005-2006 team, finished his career ranked sixth in 3-point field goal percentage.

sounds like fun. Though I'm originally from NYC, and live there now, I lived in Albany in 05 and part of 06, I would attend this event if I still did live there.
As it is, I will be parked at my neighborhood bar in the Lower East Side all weekend to watch some exciting MAAC action, culminating with my alma mater Rider's 67 point victory over siena.
